Have you ever been so excited to start something new only to find yourself making excuses as to why you CAN’T do the thing? Of course you have, and so have I, because this is the way the brain works.
The brain's job is to keep us safe, alert us of danger, and make sure we stay alive. While that’s all great if you’re in a survival situation, it doesn’t help much when you are trying to build a business, expand your bank account, or even do small things like committing to an exercise routine.
Have you ever asked yourself why this is? Well, your comfort zone is the problem. I know, I know. I hear you saying, “Geez, thanks, Allyson!” You’re also probably thinking that you’ve heard this before, OR, that you can’t do much to change the way you think or your “bad” habits. Maybe you’ve tried SO many new things to solve old problems and all it’s done is make you feel ashamed and guilty. (I’ve been there, too.)
Here's the thing…you deserve what you want. Period. If your sarcastic teenager is asking, “Well, do I deserve a ten-million-dollar mansion?” Yes, you do! You deserve it ALL. So, why are you always stopped in your tracks? Because your brain has to be onboard. If your brain isn’t onboard, it won’t happen…ever!
Yes, you might have some material wins. Sure, if you grind and hustle and hustle and grind, you’ll get results. But, you’ll only progress so far until one day you hear yourself saying, “I’m stuck!” Once that happens, the ripple effect of despair, hopelessness, and exhaustion sets in. You start believing you’re not enough no matter what you throw at the challenge. You start believing you’re too much…too loud, too aggressive, seen too much, heard too much. So, you stop. You stop dead in your tracks and progress is never made.
You think it’s because the economy has shifted. Or, maybe it’s because you sent too many emails asking for the sale. Or, maybe your social media posts all sucked. Or, maybe, just maybe, you’re not meant to do “the thing” after all. You lose sleep, obsess over the problem, and maybe even hire another coach (even if you already have one or two). You just can’t seem to figure it out.
What you don’t know, or may have forgotten, is that your brain – the part that houses your inner child – isn’t okay with you playing big. Why not? Because when you were little, you made up stories to keep yourself safe and secure. It doesn’t matter if you had the best parents in the world. You may still find that you struggle to be more. Your little kid is inside of your head saying, “We can’t do this. We don’t know how. It’s too hard.” This is all just to keep you living the same life day in and day out.
Sure, there are times we can trick our brains and try a new approach to an old problem. But, soon enough, we will be right back in the same place doing the same things.
Do you want to hold the key to change all of this? One of the ways to hold the key is to understand that you’re not broken, you’re not too much or too little, it’s just that no one has ever taught you how to become the boss of your brain.
Are you ready to finally have that dream come true? No, seriously! I’m being real with you. There’s a way to make it happen. I’ve mastered it, and I want you to master it, too.
Please join me at Behind the Power. Before you run, close this blog and sigh, I want you to think about something. Someone had to teach you how to drive. You didn’t just get in the car and go. And even if you did, you still had to learn how to navigate the rules.
I want to be the person who teaches you how to change lanes. I want to guide you to lanes that take you to that place you’ve been desiring to go for ages and just can’t seem to get to.
Behind the Power is for YOU if you are not afraid to…
Become the best version of yourself.
Invest three days toward your transformation.
Invest some dollars in your expansion.
Be coached (either privately or on stage).
Learn how to finally transform everything from “stuck” to “soaring.”
Behind the Power is NOT for you if you are TOO afraid to do any of the above.
This event was made with people just like you in mind. It’s calling you into your leadership. I hope to see you there!
All my love,
Allyson
