Listening and Following the Nudges: Four Steps to Strengthen Your Intuition

If there’s one thing I’ve learned on my journey — both personally and professionally — it’s this: intuition is never wrong. It may not always make logical sense, and sometimes it will scare the SH💩T out of you, but when you follow those nudges, you open the door to transformation that your mind alone could never create.
Halloween is always a fun time to connect with our inner knowing. 🎃 While there’s nothing spooky about our inner voice, it can feel super scary to actually listen and follow those nudges — even when they seem small. But those small choices are often the very steps that lead us toward freedom, healing, and power.
1. 🔇 Get Quiet
Noise drowns out your inner knowing. The endless scroll, the to-do list, the voices of family and friends — all of it can keep you from hearing yourself. Most of us go along with the noise, ignoring our inner voice that is desperately trying to get our attention with tummy aches, shoulder pain, and anything else it can use to wake us out of our sleepwalking stupor. In order to hear your inner voice, you must get quiet. Even five minutes a day makes a difference.
2. 💡 Feel the Difference Between Fear and Intuition
Fear feels urgent and heavy — racing heart, clenched muscles, sweaty palms. Intuition, even when it’s pointing you somewhere scary, feels lighter, guided, and free. Many of us (especially those with trauma histories) confuse the two. Learning to feel the difference is one of the greatest acts of self-trust you can cultivate.
3. ✍️ Journal to Discern the Voices
When thoughts swirl in your head, they can sound convincing — even when they come from fear or old conditioning. Writing them down helps you discern between the voice of the familiar and the voice of guided intuition. Journaling lets your truth rise to the surface in a way that’s visible, undeniable, and often surprising.
4. 🐾 Take Small Actions Toward the Nudges
Intuition grows louder the more you follow it. And it doesn’t require giant leaps. Sometimes it’s as small as making a phone call, resting when your body whispers for it, or saying no to something that drains you. Each step is a vote of confidence in your inner knowing.
💬 On a personal note:
As many of you know, my intuition is my superpower — and even then, there are times when I put it up on the shelf for various reasons. It’s also during those times that I tend to suffer the most by not following nudges and listening to my inner voice.
As we move into November, the holidays bring high-stakes emotions. Triggers come alive, and no one gets out unscathed unless they’re bypassing through overcompensating or under-participating. I want to invite you — right here, right now — to lean on your intuition as your guide through the weeks ahead.
Remember: you are not alone in this. Lean into community — whether it’s family, trusted friends, or spaces like this — for comfort, support, and encouragement. You are adored and you matter.
🧘♀️ Mini-Practice: Listening for the Nudge
Find 5 quiet minutes today — no phone, no TV, no distractions.
Ask yourself: What is my intuition nudging me toward right now?
Write down the first thing that comes up. Don’t edit or analyze.
Take one small action this week toward that nudge — however tiny it may seem.
🌀 Keep track of what shifts. The more you practice, the louder and clearer your intuition becomes.
